Both of these projects have pushed the conversation around fathering beyond the safe, apolitical focus most. Its an intentional choice that is made at some point. crew – it will be available for purchase at R.P.S., Actual Cafe, and other art spaces and book outlets when it’s done. Rad Dad: Dispatches from the Frontiers of Fatherhood combines the best pieces from the award-winning zine Rad Dad and from the blog Daddy Dialectic, two kindred publications that have tried to explore parenting as political territory. Making family is not something that simply happens to a person. Its essays on parenting, radicalism and society stand in nicely for the mountain of traditional parenting books available at any bookstore. The zine will be printed and distributed by the R.P.S. Rad Dad is a submissions-based zine edited by father and veteran zinester Tomas Moniz. DJ Baro added some vinyl flavor to the party.ĭuring the opening party visitors drew pages to be compiled into th Paper Trails Zine. The opening featured a Zine Variety Show with readings by Tomas Moniz, John Bobst, and Mari Naomi along with music performances by Annah Anti-Palindrome and Jon Barba. It’s a zine-themed show, encompassing hundreds of zines, many of which are locally-produced. Paper Trails is a collaborative art show – partnering with the Rock Paper Scissors Collective and Tomas Moniz of Rad Dad Zine. Show runs from March 9th through April 12th, 2012.
